The Economic Bill-2081, presented at a joint meeting of the Federal Parliament today by Finance Minister Barshaman Pun, states that a green tax will be levied at the rate of Rs. 1 per liter on petrol and diesel.

The tax aims to reduce the use of fossil fuels.

Similarly, a green tax of 0.5 percent will be levied on furnace oil and base oil, and 1 percent on lubricant oil.

Additionally, petroleum oil and oil obtained from bituminous minerals, comprising 70 percent or more of petroleum oil, will also be taxed at 1 percent.
