Lumbini clinches National T20 Cricket Championship title, beats Karnali by 31 runs

KATHMANDU: Lumbini province has clinched the title of the National T20 Cricket Championship by defeating Karnali in the final match held in Mulpani Cricket Stadium, Kathmandu on Monday.

Chasing Lumbini’s target of 117 runs, Karnali collapsed at 85 runs in 15 overs.

Bipin Shahi of Karnali scored the highest with 28 runs, while Bipin Rawal made 23 and Dipendra Rawat was out after scoring 12 runs.

However, other batters couldn’t contribute much, and four Karnali players were dismissed without adding a run.

Abhishek Gautam of Lumbini took 5 wickets, Nar Sarki took 2, and Captain Dev Khanal and Nirmal Gurung took one wicket each.

Earlier, Lumbini Province had scored 116 runs, losing 9 wickets in 20 overs after winning the toss and choosing to bat.

For Lumbini, Mrinal Gurung scored 27, Birat Bhandari scored 26, and Krishna Karki contributed 22 runs.

However, other batters couldn’t perform well.

Unish Thakuri, Dinesh Adhikari, and Divan Pun took 3 wickets each for Karnali, while Prakash Jaisi took 1 wicket.

Seven provincial teams participated in the National T20 Cricket Tournament organized by the Bir Ganeshman Singh Foundation.
