KATHMANDU: The Chief Minister (CM) of Bagmati Province is poised to seek a vote of confidence on April 1st.
A proposal to solicit a vote of confidence was submitted to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat on Friday.
CM Shalikram Jamkattel is slated to undergo a vote of confidence following the withdrawal of support from the Nepali Congress for the provincial government.
Under these circumstances, the CM is mandated to undergo a vote of confidence within 30 days. Of the 110 members in the Provincial Assembly, CM Jamkattel must secure 56 votes to retain confidence.
CM Jamkattel is anticipated to secure the vote of confidence with support from the CPN-UML, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialist), and Hamro Nepali Party.
Presently, there are 27 lawmakers from CPN-UML, 21 from the Maoist Center, seven from CPN (Unified Socialist), and two from the Hamro Nepali Party in the Bagmati Provincial Assembly.
