KATHMANDU: In response to recent developments, the government has initiated an investigation into the granting of a weapons license to Durga Prasai.

During a Cabinet meeting held on Thursday, a decision was made to establish a four-member committee, led by Home Ministry’s Joint Secretary Rajendra Dev Pandey, to oversee the inquiry.

The decision comes after two of Prasai’s bodyguards were apprehended with weapons on March 18 within the premises of the Supreme Court.

In response to this, Prasai has asserted that he obtained permission to carry the weapon from the District Administration Office in Jhapa.

The committee has been tasked with completing its investigation within 15 days and submitting a comprehensive report on the matter.
