Riyan Parag’s heroics lead Rajasthan Royals to victory over Delhi Capitals



KATHMANDU: In a gripping clash at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Riyan Parag’s scintillating unbeaten knock of 84 runs off just 45 balls propelled the Rajasthan Royals to a thrilling 12-run victory over the Delhi Capitals in Match 9 of the TATA IPL 2024.

Batting first, Rajasthan Royals faced early setbacks, finding themselves at 36/3.

However, Parag’s explosive innings, complemented by contributions from R Ashwin and others, guided them to a competitive total of 185/5. Parag’s onslaught included a flurry of boundaries and sixes as he single-handedly led the recovery.

In response, Delhi Capitals got off to a brisk start but were hindered by crucial breakthroughs from Nandre Burger and Yuzvendra Chahal.

Despite valiant efforts from DC’s batsmen, including Warner and Stubbs, Rajasthan’s bowlers maintained pressure throughout the innings. Avesh Khan sealed the win for Rajasthan with a brilliant final over, defending 17 runs.

Delhi Capitals’ captain Rishabh Pant marked his 100th IPL match, adding significance to the contest.

Despite the loss, Pant’s milestone was acknowledged with a special jersey presentation before the game.

Rajasthan Royals’ victory showcased their batting depth and resilience, while Delhi Capitals’ performance highlighted their fighting spirit.
