Kathmandu witnesses record high winter temperature today



KATHMANDU: Today, February 29, marked a record-breaking moment in Kathmandu Valley as it experienced the highest maximum temperature of this winter season.

According to the Weather Forecasting Division, the maximum temperature in the Valley soared to 23.8 degrees Celsius today (Thursday).

This marks the highest temperature recorded in the Valley this winter, the Division said.

Previously, the peak was 23.2 degrees Celsius on February 28th, making today’s temperature the new winter record for Kathmandu Valley.

Before this, the Valley hadn’t witnessed such high temperatures during the winter season.

Meanwhile, the minimum temperature today in Kathmandu Valley measured at 6.9 degrees Celsius, according to the Division.

It should be noted that the minimum temperature is recorded by 8:45 am, and the maximum temperature is noted at 5:45 pm.

Meteorologists define the three-month period of December, January, and February as winter.

Today, being the last day of February officially concludes the winter season.
