Progress accelerates for infectious disease research centre establishment in Tikapur

KAILALI: Momentum surges in the establishment of the Infectious Disease Research Centre in the Sudurpaschim province, marking significant strides towards bolstering healthcare infrastructure.

Efforts are intensifying to complete the first phase of construction this year, signaling a concerted push to advance public health initiatives.

As the federal government initiates operations for the Infectious Disease Research Centre in Doti, the provincial government has taken the proactive step of establishing a province-level facility in Tikapur, Kailali.

Construction of the facility commenced in 2078 BS under the purview of the Ministry of Social Development. With an investment of Rs 20 million earmarked for this year, plans are in place to finalize pending construction tasks and propel operational processes forward.

The Ministry of Social Development has allocated Rs 20 million for the remaining construction works this fiscal year, with an agreement set to be formalized with the selected contractor company for prompt completion, according to Engineer Homraj Timilsina.

Secretary Ganesh Singh affirmed that once the construction phase concludes, requisite procedures for operationalizing the Infectious Disease Research Centre will be expedited, emphasizing its significance in advancing provincial healthcare services.

He underscored the Center’s pivotal role in elevating the province’s health sector, expressing optimism for its transformative impact.

Situated within the premises of Tikapur Hospital, the Center is poised to not only enhance disease research capabilities but also contribute to the overall enhancement of hospital facilities, fostering a comprehensive healthcare ecosystem.

The proactive measures undertaken underscore the province’s commitment to bolstering healthcare infrastructure and addressing emergent public health challenges, marking a pivotal step towards ensuring the well-being of citizens.
