KATHMANDU: Nepal and Jordan are set to clash in the final of the West Asian Football Federation (WAFF) Championship today.

The championship match kicks off at 10:00 pm (Nepali time) at the Prince Abdullah Al Faisal Sports City Stadium in Jehad, Saudi Arabia.

In the semifinals, Nepal triumphed over Lebanon with a 2-1 victory, securing their spot in the championship game.

On the other side, Jordan secured their place in the final by defeating Palestine.

Despite being considered the underdog, Nepal has displayed a commendable performance in their debut appearance as an invited team in the WAFF Championship.

In contrast, Jordan, ranked 74th in FIFA’s women’s soccer rankings, carries the title of defending champion, having clinched the WAF title five times in the past.

However, Nepal faces a setback as Sabitra Bhandari ‘Samba ‘will be absent from today’s final match.

The All Nepal Football Association (ANFA) announced that Sabitra will not be available due to contractual obligations with the French Club En Avant Guingamp.
