PM Cup Cricket:  Army scores 97 runs victory over Sudurpashchim

KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan Army Club secured a convincing win over Sudurpashchim province by 97 runs in the Prime Minister’s Cup One-Day Cricket tournament.

Playing at TU Cricket Ground, the Army set a target of 263 runs, and Sudurpashchim was bowled out for 165 runs in 40.1 overs.

For Sudurpashchim, Kiran Thagunna was the top scorer with 68 runs, while Sher Malla contributed 24 runs, but other batsmen couldn’t make substantial contributions.

Jitendra Mukhiya led the way for the Army with five wickets, while Sompal Kami took two wickets, and Basir Ahmad, Shahab Alam, and Kushal Malla claimed one wicket each.

Prior to that, after winning the toss, the Army posted 262 runs in 48.3 overs, with Kushal Malla being the top scorer with 75 runs. Basir Ahmad contributed 36 runs before getting out.

Bhojraj Bhatta single-handedly took six wickets for Sudurpashchim, while Naren Saud and Bikash Agri took three and one wicket, respectively.

With this victory, the Army has secured the second position in the points table of the ongoing tournament, with six wins in eight matches and a total of 12 points
