Former Chief Administrative Officer and 9 others face corruption charges in Chhayanath Rara Municipality



KATHMANDU: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has lodged a corruption case against Pitambar Saru, the former Chief Administrative Officer of Chhayanath Rara Municipality, along with 10 others, including immediate administrative officials.

The case was filed at the Special Court in Kathmandu on Monday.

The individuals named in the case include Engineer Mahesh Singh Kathayat, Assistant Sub-Engineer Hastabahadur Malla, Chairman of the Road Construction Consumer Committee Unbahadur Shahi, Secretary Radhika Rawal, Treasurer Bijuli Malla, and members of the Road Construction Monitoring Committee Chakrabahadur Saud, Hajarkala Kami, Karna Rawal. Former Ward No. 7 member Pashupati Shahi is also among those accused.

The investigation by the antigraft body was initiated following reports of irregularities in the upgrading work of the Talcha Salleri road in Wards No. 7 and 8 of Chhayanath Rara Municipality.

After a comprehensive investigation involving assessments, document scrutiny, technical bill preparation, and submission of detailed reports, the CIAA concluded that irregularities amounting to over NPR 2,862,459 had occurred.

In a press release issued on Monday, the authority announced that a corruption case has been filed against the 10 accused in the Special Court.
