Unified Socialist’s Central Council meeting to conclude today

KATHMANDU: The Central Council meeting of the Unified Socialist) party is set to conclude today, with a primary focus on discussions surrounding statute amendments.

Approximately 1,000 delegates, including members from the Central Committee, representatives from federal constituencies, among others, are actively participating in the meeting.

The delegates are divided into ten groups for in-depth discussions, and the meeting is expected to conclude by the end of today, party leaders said.

The meeting is primarily deliberating on the proposal to amend the law.

Each group will present their suggestions, and by this evening, the party will announce the conclusions.

Party’s Vice Chairman Beduram Bhusal will document and consider the suggestions arising from the group discussions.

The party had previously organized Secretariat and Central Committee meetings to review the draft law.

A committee, headed by Bhusal, was formed to draft the legislation, with input from General Secretary Ghanshyam Bhusal and Deputy General Secretary Prakash Jwala.

During these sessions, the Secretariat members advocated for a reduction in the size of the Central Committee.

They also expressed opinions on the absence of an age limit in the executive committee, emphasizing the importance of diverse representation from the young to the old.
