KATHMANDU: The Cabinet meeting held on Thursday afternoon at Singha Durbar approved Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s official visit to China, scheduled to begin on December 1.
The delegation will comprise 87 members, including 39 government officials, among them ministers, and 48 representatives from the private sector.
PM Oli is set to depart for Beijing on December 2 for a four-day official visit.
During his stay, he will meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on December 3.
Oli is expected to return to Nepal on December 5, following the conclusion of the visit.
As part of the preparations, Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba has already been sent to China. She has reached Chengdu to lay the groundwork for the visit.
Discussions on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) are also expected during Oli’s visit.
However, due to the ruling coalition partner Nepali Congress’s opposition, immediate implementation of BRI-related projects seems unlikely.
