KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr. Arzu Rana left for China today to finalize preparations for the visit of Prime Minister KP Oli.
Minister Rana is visiting the People’s Republic of China from November 28 to 30, at the invitation of her Chinese counterpart, Wang Yi, who is also a Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Director of the Office of the Central Commission for Foreign Affairs, as confirmed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During her three-day visit, the Foreign Minister will hold bilateral talks with Wang Yi on November 29.
The discussions will focus on matters of mutual interest, including preparations for the upcoming official visit of Prime Minister K P Oli to China.
Minister Rana is expected to return to Kathmandu on November 30.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Oli is scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping and other senior Chinese officials on December 3 as part of his official visit to China.
Prime Minister Oli will meet with the Chinese President and other high-ranking officials the day after his arrival in Beijing.
According to a source from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister Oli, who will depart for China on December 2, is expected to spend four days in Beijing and return on December 5.
“High-level meetings with the Chinese President and Prime Minister will be held on December 3, the day after the Prime Minister’s arrival in Beijing,” the ministry source stated.
Although preparations for Prime Minister Oli’s visit are in full swing, an official announcement has not yet been made.
It is expected that the visit will be officially announced by both Beijing and Kathmandu on November 29.
