Gagan Thapa urges strong action on cooperative fraud

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has urged the government to uphold the rule of law without compromise, instilling confidence among citizens.

Speaking at a program organized by Nepal Rastra Bank employees in Kathmandu on Monday, Thapa stressed the need for the public to feel the presence of a functioning government and to trust that the rule of law will be strictly enforced.

Thapa said that the government must actively address the cooperative fraud cases, focusing on returning the deposits of depositors. He suggested that authorities should begin by liquidating the assets of those involved in cooperative scams to ensure that depositors are repaid.

The General Secretary also stressed the importance of prosecuting everyone found guilty in the cooperative fraud cases, advocating for the full implementation of the parliamentary probe committee’s report.

Thapa asserted that the government must not hesitate to take action against leaders from any political party if they are found guilty through these investigations.
