Gagan Thapa calls for investigation into alleged involvement of Dhanraj Gurung in cooperative fraud case

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) General Secretary Gagan Thapa has called for an investigation into party Vice-President Dhanraj Gurung, who is allegedly implicated in the Miteri Cooperative case in Lalitpur.

Speaking at a program organized by Nepal Rastra Bank employees in Kathmandu on Monday, Thapa urged the government to look into Gurung’s involvement.

“There have been discussions regarding NC Vice President Dhanraj Gurung, and the parliamentary committee on cooperatives has addressed this issue. A debate has taken place, and further investigation is necessary,” Thapa stated.

He also urged that the government investigate CPN-UML leader Rishikesh Pokharel, whose name has also surfaced in relation to the case.

“If there are mistakes, Nepali Congress, UML, and RSP should all be held accountable,” he emphasized.

Thapa asserted, “No one is above the law, whether they have served as prime minister multiple times or are currently in office. The government must ensure that everyone stands before the court of justice.”

He concluded by expressing that only through such accountability can an atmosphere of trust be fostered among the people.
