Govt to immediately resume obstructed roads, provide free treatment to injured



KATHMANDU: The government has decided to immediately open the roads blocked by floods and landslides due to continuous rains.

An emergency coordination meeting chaired by acting Prime Minister Prakashman Singh at Singh Durbar today directed the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport to imitate opening the blocked roads.

Minister for Communications and Information Technology Prithvi Subba Gurung informed that the meeting instructed the relevant ministries to make arrangements for the immediate operation of essential services including electricity, drinking water, and telephone.

The meeting also decided to legally provide relief and compensation to the families of the deceased and arrange free treatment for the injured in natural disasters.

Minister Gurung, also the government spokesperson, informed that the meeting has decided to postpone all ongoing examinations in the country with the disruption of transport system due to floods, landslides and inundation.

He further shared that the meeting assessed the damage caused by the rain-induced floods and landslides.
