KATHMANDU: Public transport services in the country have been impacted as major highways across the country are disrupted by rain-triggered landslides and floods.
According to Saroj Sitaula, Vice-President of the Federation of Nepalese National Transport Entrepreneurs, long and medium-haul vehicles operating from New Bus Park and other areas cannot run due to damages and obstructions on the highways.
Some vehicles along these routes have been swept away or buried by landslides.
In light of the hazardous conditions caused by persistent rainfall since last Thursday, Sitaula urged transport entrepreneurs to refrain from operating vehicles at night.
He emphasized the importance of safety, requesting that transport service providers, drivers, and their assistants avoid nighttime travel due to the ongoing risks.
