Govt announces compensation for families affected by floods and landslides

KATHMANDU: In response to the tragic loss of life from recent floods and landslides caused by continuous rains, the government has announced plans to provide compensation and relief to the affected families.

During a meeting chaired by Acting Prime Minister Prakashman Singh at the Prime Minister’s Office in Singha Durbar, it was decided to compensate the families of those who lost their lives in the disasters.

Following the meeting, government spokesperson Prithvi Subba Gurung expressed condolences to all those impacted by the disaster and confirmed that arrangements for compensation would be made for the relatives of the deceased.

Gurung also stated that the Ministry of Transport will take the lead in providing free medical treatment for the injured and in clearing blocked roads as soon as possible.

Additionally, he announced the postponement of various faculty exams due to the disruptions caused by the heavy rains.

He emphasized the need for coordinated efforts among relevant ministries to restore essential services such as telephone, electricity, and water supply, which have been severely affected by the floods and landslides.
