Landslides kill four people in Lalitpur



LALITPUR: Four people lost their lives in Toukhel, Lalitpur, due to landslides triggered by incessant rain.

A mother and daughter died after being buried by a landslide in Toukhel, Godavari Municipality-3.

Shekhar Neupane, Chairman of Godavari Municipality-10, stated that a 50-year-old woman and an eight-year-old girl perished in the landslide in Toukhel.

Meanwhile, Sanuraja Ghimire, the Ward President of Godavari-3, said that a father and daughter were buried under a mound, adding that houses near Godavari Kunda are at a high risk of landslides.

Manoj Kumar Parajuli, Ward President of Mahankal-3 Gotikhel, stated that a police station and three houses in Mahangkal Rural Municipality-3 were swept away by floodwaters.

“The Baitarnidham temple and police station have been washed away, along with vehicles and three houses. There were five people present at the location, and we have lost contact with them,” he reported, noting that the police have moved to a safe location.
