KATHMANDU: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has mobilized 17 teams of city police to address the disaster caused by continuous rain.

A total of 300 personnel are engaged in managing the situation in the capital.

Balen Shah, Mayor of Kathmandu Metropolis, stated that the teams are focused on minimizing loss of life and property in vulnerable areas, including flooded settlements, riverbanks, and roads obstructed by fallen trees.

“The issues at Kusheshwor, Kapurdhara, Jadibuti, Teku, Swayambhu, Basundhara, Kapan, Shankhamul, New Road, Ganeshsthan, and other locations are being addressed,” he said.

“We are prioritizing local concerns and requests received through our hotline.”

The KMC has urged residents to prepare for potential disasters.

In the event of a water-related emergency (flood, erosion, landslide), the KMC has urged people to contact the Kathmandu Metropolitan City hotlines at 16600105511 or 1180, or the Metropolitan Police Force at 9851356509.

The KMC has also urged people to reach out to 102 requiring medical assistance or free ambulance services.
