Heavy rains disrupt traffic across Kathmandu Valley, landslides block key routes across Nepal

KATHMANDU: Continuous rainfall has severely impacted traffic in several parts of Kathmandu Valley, with waterlogged roads and landslides creating significant disruptions.

Key areas including Tinkune, Garigaon, UN Park, Bishnumati Corridor in Teku, Maitighar, Nayabato, Gwarko, Imadol, Paropkar, Sanepa, Kalopul, and Balkhu are experiencing traffic slowdowns due to waterlog.

The situation has worsened outside the Valley, where landslides have blocked major routes.

According to the police, vehicles are unable to operate on the Nagadhunga-Naubise, Pharping, Bhimdhunga, Dharmasthali, Tinpiple, and Kanti Highway roads, leaving travelers stranded.

The continuous downpour has also halted movement through Banepa market, where the rising water levels have made roads impassable.

With safety in mind, the traffic police have urged the public to avoid travel unless absolutely necessary.

In Chitwan, the District Security Committee has taken precautionary measures by banning vehicle operations along the Narayangadh-Mugling road section due to the high risk of floods and landslides.
