Tanahu bus accident: One missing person still not traced



DAMAULI: A person, who went missing when a passenger bus plunged into the Marsyangdi river from the Prithvi highway at Ainapahara of Aanbukhaureni rural municipality-2, Tanahu district last Friday, has not been found even five days since the accident.

The bus with Indian registration plate UP 53 FT 7623 heading towards Kathmandu from Pokhara fell into the river. Gokarni Sandup Sarode, who had gone missing after the accident has not been found as of Tuesday, Deputy Superintendent of Police at the District Police Office Tanahu, Deepak Raya, said.

Twenty-seven people were killed and 16 injured in the accident. Although a search is on for the missing Sarode, the person’s condition is not known yet, police said.

The bus was pulled out of the river on Monday and Sarode could not be found. Earlier it was presumed that Sarode might be trapped in the mangled bus.

Sarode’s parents were killed in the same accident. Police said a search continues at the probable locations for the missing Sarode.
