Implementation of Bagmati Province Health Act soon: Minister Magar

CHITWAN: The Health Institution Establishment, Up-gradation, and Renewal Act of Bagmati Province is set to be enforced by mid-September.

Many health institutions in the region have not been renewed due to the long-standing absence of the Act.

This has led to a halt in the registration of new health institutions, rendered provincial hospital committees defunct, and stalled environmental impact assessments.

Bagmati Province Health Minister Kiran Thapa Magar stated that the Act would be introduced by mid-September.

“We are in the final stages of bringing the law. It is currently with the provincial parliamentary committee and will be presented in the next parliamentary session,” he said.

Magar added that the lack of enactment has significantly affected many processes.

Dr. Rabin Bhusal, Information Officer at the Ministry, explained that the bill was submitted to the Province Assembly in September of the previous year.

Following this, the Education, Health, and Agriculture Committee of Bagmati Province needed to approve the bill before it could proceed to the Assembly.

However, the discussion has been delayed due to the absence of a committee for an extended period.
