NEPSE surpasses 2700 points, trades over Rs 15.81 billion

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index approached the 2700-point mark today before slightly retreating.

The market experienced a brief halt when the benchmark index rose by 4% shortly after opening, leading to a suspension of trading at 11:21 AM.

Trading resumed after a short break, only to be halted again when the index surged by 5%, prompting another 40-minute suspension due to significant market volatility.

During this pause, the total turnover reached Rs 5.249 billion.

Upon resumption at 12:02 PM, the index showed a gain of 129.07 points, ultimately closing at 2681.56 points, a 4.41% increase.

On the same day, shares worth Rs 15.81 billion were traded.

Share prices of 147 companies rose, while 87 companies saw their prices decline, and 8 remained unchanged.

The bank group index experienced the most significant rise, climbing by 4.87% to reach 5291.71 points.
