KATHMANDU: Baikuntha Aryal, who was suspended from his position as chief Secretary following corruption charges, has appeared before Special Court to give his statement.

This appearance comes 35 days after the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) filed the charge sheet against him.

Following Aryal’s statement, the court will enter a closed debate.

The Authority has alleged that embezzlement occurred in the printing of excise duty stickers while Aryal served as the Secretary of the Ministry of Communications.

The case revolves around claims of financial irregularities involving 386 million 67 thousand 17 hundred 640 rupees.

Aryal is accused of facilitating overpriced printing.

During the investigation, the CIAA determined that the duty stickers were printed at inflated costs, leading to the current allegations.
