Govt preparing basis for socialism: PM Dahal

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ announced that the government is working to lay the foundation for socialism by institutionalizing the achievements of past revolutions and transformations.

Speaking at the launch of the memoir Sahashik Yoddha Jagat Bahadur Bohora (Valiant Warrior Jagat Bahadur Bohora), PM Dahal emphasized the government’s focus on good governance, social justice, and prosperity.

“We have transitioned to a socialism-oriented federal democratic republic, built on the sacrifices of thousands of martyrs, disappeared combatants, and tens of thousands of revolutionary warriors. We must embark on the journey of socialism by solidifying these gains,” PM Dahal stated.

The Prime Minister highlighted Jagat Bahadur Bohora’s significant contributions, particularly during the People’s War, which aimed at revolutionary transformation in Nepali society.

Bohora was injured during a peaceful protest against the single-party Panchayat system in Sindhupalchowk district in 2040 BS, where several protestors, including Ile Thami and Bir Bahadur Thami, were killed, and others were brutally suppressed.

Dozens, including Chhatra Bahadur Bohora, Man Bahadur Thami, Meghnath Poudel, Arun Nepal, Suresh Nepal, and Gopal Thapaliya, were detained and imprisoned. Bohora was among those critically injured.

Attendees at the book launch included CPN-Maoist Center Spokesperson Agni Prasad Sapkota and CPN-UML’s Amrit Kumar Bohora.
