Monsoon intensifies from Friday

KATHMANDU: The monsoon will become more active starting Friday afternoon.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology issued a monsoon bulletin on Thursday evening, urging everyone to prepare for increased rainfall beginning today.

A low-pressure monsoon belt has developed and moved north, approaching Nepal, which will cause further rains across the country.

Meteorologist Prativa Manandhar stated that the weather will be generally cloudy with light to moderate rainfall nationwide.

However, a few areas are expected to experience heavy rainfall due to monsoon winds.

Heavy rainfall is already occurring in parts of Gandaki and Lumbini.

Additionally, heavy rain with lightning is forecasted for one or two places in Madhes and Karnali Provinces, as well as several areas in other provinces starting Friday.
