Kailash Sirohiya to be transferred to Kathmandu for medical treatment

JANAKPUR: The police are preparing to transfer Kailash Sirohiya, Chairman of Kantipur Media Group, who has been in Dhanusha police custody for seven days on charges of citizenship fraud, to Kathmandu for medical treatment.

A doctor at Kavya Hospital in Janakpurdham informed Khabarhub that Chairman Sirohiya’s health deteriorated while in custody, prompting the recommendation for treatment in Kathmandu.

“He has been receiving regular treatment in Kathmandu,” the doctor stated, adding, “Considering his health condition, we have advised that he should be taken to Kathmandu for necessary medical care.”

Sirohiya, currently at Kavya Hospital, has experienced high blood pressure and heart rhythm issues while in police custody.

Following the doctor’s advice, discussions are underway at the District Police Office for necessary legal consultations.

The decision to transfer Sirohiya to Kathmandu will be made after consulting with the government attorney.

Preparations are being made to transfer him to Kathmandu by helicopter.

On Monday, the Dhanusha District Court extended his custody for the third time, also ordering that he should be taken to a doctor if necessary for treatment.

Following the court’s directive, preparations are being made to transfer him to Kathmandu on Tuesday.

The court emphasized that his right to medical treatment should not be obstructed and granted permission for transfer to a well-equipped facility.

Consequently, doctors at Kavya Hospital have recommended Sirohiya be taken to Kathmandu for treatment.

On Monday, Sirohiya was brought to the Dhanusha District Court for the extension of his custody in Kavya Hospital’s ambulance.

The court granted a third three-day extension, following two previous three-day extensions.

Sirohiya was arrested last Tuesday from Kantipur’s headquarters in Thapathali and transported to Dhanusha by road.

He has since been in police custody and admitted to a Janakpur-based hospital after experiencing health issues.
