KATHMANDU: The Nepali Congress (NC), the main opposition party, has endorsed the agreement to form a parliamentary investigation committee to probe the cooperative fraud case.
A parliamentary party committee meeting held on Tuesday morning approved the agreement between the ruling and opposition parties on forming the probe committee and its Terms of Reference (ToR), according to Ramesh Lekhak, the party’s chief whip.
The task force formed to prepare the ToR is holding a meeting to finalize the agreement reached between the ruling and opposition parties.
The parties have agreed to form a seven-member probe committee, including representatives from five political parties.
The committee will include two members each from the Nepali Congress and CPN-UML, and one member each from the CPN (Maoist Center), Rastriya Swatantra Party, and Rastriya Prajatantra Party.
Additionally, the parties have agreed not to mention Home Minister Rabi Lamichhane by name but to investigate the cooperatives and companies in which he is suspected to have been involved.
