Collective efforts shape Nepal’s republicanism: PM Dahal

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister (PM) Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has emphasized that the establishment of a republic in Nepal is the culmination of concerted political endeavors aimed at fostering a prosperous nation founded on principles of social justice.

Addressing a special ceremony at Army Pavilion, Tundikhel on Republic Day, the Prime Minister expressed that the transition to a republic was driven by a shared vision among political parties to dismantle discriminatory structures and achieve federalism and a new constitution.

“We, the advocates of change, united to usher in a republic, breaking away from unitary and feudal systems,” PM Dahal reiterated, marking the conclusion of a political revolution with the advent of a federal democratic republic.

He cautioned against any attempts to undermine this historic achievement, emphasizing the necessity of national unity and collaboration to safeguard the progress made.

While acknowledging Nepal’s advancements in improving people’s livelihoods and enhancing diplomatic relations, PM Dahal stressed the ongoing commitment to protecting national interests through an independent foreign policy.

He outlined efforts to elevate Nepal’s status to that of a developing country by 2083BS, with campaigns underway to achieve Sustainable Development Goals by 2087BS.

PM Dahal highlighted various initiatives aimed at bolstering the national economy, including the implementation of financial and monetary policies, revision of laws to foster investment, and infrastructure development.

He underscored the importance of inclusivity, proportional representation, and individual freedoms in consolidating the gains of the republic.

Asserting that the republic signifies not only a political system but also a way of life, PM Dahal emphasized its growing acceptance at the grassroots level.

The ceremony, attended by dignitaries including the President, Vice President, Chief Justice, and diplomatic envoys, featured military parades and cultural displays, symbolizing the nation’s unity and progress.
