Nepal Police announces progress: Successfully investigates 23 major cases in a year

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police has concluded investigations on 23 significant cases over the past year, announced Nepal Police Spokesperson and Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Bhim Prasad Dhakal during a press conference at the Nepal Police Headquarters today.

Among the cases investigated, Nepal Police successfully resolved the Lalita Niwas land scam, recovered 60 kilograms of gold, and apprehended Ram Bahadur Bamjon on charges of pedophilia.

In addition to these cases, DIG Dhakal highlighted other serious investigations conducted by Nepal Police in the past year, including the embezzlement case of Deurali cooperative, arrest of a Hundi trader, scam involving Shiva Shikhar cooperative, seizure of 2,600 grams of cocaine, and uncovering a fake Bhutanese refugee scam, among others.

DIG Dhakal further disclosed that Nepal Police filed a total of 59,061 cases across the country on various charges within the year.

The highest number of cases pertained to banking fraud.

Statistics provided by Dhakal indicate that the Kathmandu Valley had the highest number of reported cases, totaling 17,397, while Karnali Province had the lowest number of cases.
