Alarming road accident statistics in Nepal: Seven fatalities and 83 injuries daily



KATHMANDU: The latest report from Nepal Police has uncovered concerning statistics regarding road accidents in Nepal.

According to the report, an average of seven individuals lose their lives, and 83 sustain injuries in road accidents daily.

During a press conference organized by Nepal Police on Thursday, spokesperson Bhim Prasad Dhakal disclosed these troubling figures, emphasizing the urgent need for road safety measures.

In addition to the fatalities and injuries, the report highlights that 65 vehicles are involved in accidents daily, underscoring the magnitude of the issue.

Furthermore, spokesperson Dhakal revealed that Nepal currently has 6,238,301 officially registered vehicles, translating to approximately 2,252 vehicles per traffic police officer.

Moreover, the police have collected approximately Rs 1.87 billion in revenue as fines, reflecting the enforcement efforts to address road safety violations.

The revelations from the report emphasize the critical importance of prioritizing road safety initiatives to mitigate the alarming rate of road accidents in Nepal.
