KATHMANDU: In a WAFF Women’s Championship semi-final match, Nepal secured a spot in the final by overcoming Lebanon with a 2-1 triumph.
Lebanon initially took the lead in the 38th minute when a back pass from defender Pooja Rana unintentionally found its way into the goal, resulting in an own goal.
However, Nepal fought back, with Sabitra Bhandari equalizing the score at 1-1 in the 76th minute.
As the game entered extra time, the suspense heightened. In a breathtaking moment, Priti Rai netted a stunning goal, propelling Nepal to a 2-1 victory.
The decisive goal came from a skillfully executed shot outside the box after a corner kick had been cleared.
With this win, Nepal is set to face Jordan in the WAFF Championship final.
Jordan secured their spot by defeating Palestine 5-0 in the first semi-final earlier in the day.
The final match is scheduled for next Thursday.
