UML Chair Oli denies former King Shah’s royalty, calls Durbar massacre horrific conspiracy

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML chairman KP Oli has termed the royal massacre a conspiracy and former King Gyanendra Shah’s clarification about the latter’s non-involvement not convincing.

Speaking to media in Kathmandu on Sunday, the UML chairman objected to former King Shah’s remark that the massacre was caused by then Crown Prince Dipendra Shah.

“Former King is no more a king. His status is like that of the Kush grass idol purohitas make while carrying out religious rituals, its no use talking about him,” Oli said.

Responding to Gyanendra Shah’s expression on the Royal Massacre of May 1, 2001, Oli refuted the claims made by him (former King).

The UML chairman termed the Durbar massacre a horrific conspiracy.

Gyanendra Shah, during his speech in Birgunj on Saturday, had complained that there have been false rumors defaming the royal family.
