PM Oli: Protests on judicial matters undemocratic

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli stated that protesting on matters under judicial review goes against democratic principles.

At an event organized by the Nepal National Ex-Army and Police Organization in Kathmandu on Sunday, Oli criticized demonstrations held in support of individuals under investigation, particularly those happening within court premises, as undemocratic.

He also mentioned that the government is implementing the parliamentary committee’s report on cooperative fund misappropriation, adding that he holds no bias and believes everyone should accept judicial outcomes.

This statement comes amid ongoing protests led by the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) following the arrest of their leader, Rabi Lamichhane, over a cooperative fraud case.

After holding a week-long protest in Pokhara, RSP shifted its demonstrations to Kathmandu and is preparing for a more intensified movement.
