WASHINGTON DC: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana has stated that Nepal is in the final stages of establishing peace by effectively managing internal conflicts.
Speaking at the Ministerial Meeting of the United Nations Forum on Peacebuilding, she highlighted the recent passage of a transitional justice bill by Nepal’s federal parliament, which includes a victim-centered approach.
The meeting’s theme was “Re-evaluation of the Roadmap for Peacebuilding for 2025: Prosperity and Priority.”
Dr. Rana emphasized that the peacebuilding process has become increasingly complex in today’s world, noting the importance of identifying the root causes of conflict to achieve sustainable peace and social stability.
She called for a reassessment of peacebuilding strategies for 2025, advocating for a more sustainable and effective approach.
The Minister also recommended that the Peacebuilding Commission adopt a strategic partnership with entities such as the Security Council and the General Assembly.
Recalling Nepal’s heritage as the birthplace of Gautam Buddha, the apostle of peace, Dr. Rana urged a focus on cultivating a peaceful, violence-free society grounded in positive values, conduct, and culture.
