Jhakri and Jayanti compete for Female Vice Chair position in CPN (Unified Socialist)

KATHMANDU: Ram Kumari Jhakri and Jayanti Devi Rai are competing for the position of Female Vice Chairman of CPN (Unified Socialist).

Jhakri has the backing of the group led by respected leader Jhalnath Khanal and General Secretary Ghan Shyam Bhusal.

Despite playing a crucial role alongside Chairman Madhav Nepal in splitting from CPN-UML to form the new party, Jhakri’s relationship with Nepal has been strained.

She has voiced dissatisfaction with the role assigned to her within the party.

On the other hand, Jayanti Devi Rai is supported by the faction led by Madhav Nepal.

Jayanti previously served as the Female Vice Chairman, while Jhakri was a Secretary of the party.

Jayanti is currently a member of the National Assembly, whereas Jhakri was defeated by UML leader Ghokarna Bista in the election in Gulmi.
