KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress (NC) leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala has criticized the ruling parties for proceeding without considering the parliamentary principle that the parliament belongs to the opposition.
Speaking at a welcome program for new students organized by the Nepal Students’ Union, Ayurved Campus Committee, Dr. Koirala stated that the ruling parties should not try to instruct NC on parliamentary systems.
“In the parliamentary system, it is said that the parliament belongs to the opposition, but here the ruling parties are trying to move ahead without listening to the opposition,” Dr. Koirala said, adding, “NC does not need to be taught about the parliamentary system by any political party. NC is firm in its stand.”
Dr. Koirala urged the government to resolve the ongoing deadlock in the parliament by forming a parliamentary probe committee as demanded by the NC to investigate the misappropriation of cooperative funds.
“Congress is in no hurry to join the government,” Dr. Koirala said. “We are clear about moving forward by prioritizing the country’s and people’s agendas.”
Dr. Koirala also emphasized the importance of Ayurvedic education in Nepal. He noted that its relevance is increasing day by day and that the state should focus on addressing the issues emerging in the field of Ayurvedic science.
