KATHMANDU: The Election Commission (EC) has requested clarification from Milan Limbu, the candidate of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) for the Ilam-2 by-election, regarding a breach of the election code of conduct.

Chief Election Commissioner Dinesh Kumar Thapaliya stated, “Appropriate action will be taken for the breach of the election code of conduct.”

A photograph of Limbu casting his vote while wearing a badge displaying the election symbol of the party has surfaced on social media, prompting the attention of the Election Commission.

The Commission subsequently notified the District Election Office, which investigated the incident at the polling center where Limbu cast his vote in Dahagaon of Mangsebung-2.

Limbu was instructed to remove the badge in question.

According to the election code of conduct, the wearing of badges and clothing that highlight the election symbols of parties and candidates is prohibited.
