KATHMANDU: The voting process for the House of Representatives (HoR) by-election concluded peacefully in Ilam constituency-2 on Saturday.

Chief District Officer Indra Dev Yadav reported that the election was conducted smoothly and generated excitement among the voters.

According to preliminary data provided by Yadav, approximately 57 percent of eligible voters cast their ballots.

The total number of eligible voters for Ilam-2 is reported to be 115,889.

“Preparations are underway to collect all the ballot boxes at the Election Office by 10 PM,” stated Yadav.

A total of 19 candidates, including seven independents, contested for the seat, which became vacant following the unfortunate passing of Subash Chandra Nembang, the former HoR member from the constituency, on September 12, 2023.
