CIAA files corruption charges against former Mayor and four others in Karjanha Municipality

SIRAHA: The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed corruption case against former Mayor Ganga Paswan of Karjanha Municipality and four others.

CIAA sources indicate that the former Chief Administrative Officer of the municipality, Buddhimann Danuwar, Accountant Pravin Kumar Mahato, and representatives from construction firms Mahalaxmi Pandey and Company and Dragon JV Limited, including official representative Baijnath Yadav, have been summoned to appear before a special court on corruption allegations.

The CIAA is seeking to designate all five, along with ex-Mayor Paswan, as defendants, demanding a fine exceeding 10 million rupees and imprisonment.

The charges stem from irregularities in the construction contract for the administrative building during the fiscal year 2078/79.

Furthermore, the accused are found to have disregarded directives from the High Court in Janakpur, instructing them not to relocate the Municipality office without completing formal legal procedures.
