Maoist Center to contest in Ilam and Bhajang by-elections

KATHMANDU: The CPN-Maoist Center has made the decision to participate in the forthcoming by-elections in Ilam and Bhajang, scheduled for April 27.

During a meeting of office bearers, the party resolved to nominate candidates for both the Illam-2 and Bhajang-1 constituencies. However, the final selection of candidates is yet to be determined.

Harka Bahadur Nembang, Chairman of the party for Koshi Province, disclosed that the names recommended for candidacy include Direndra Sharma Timalsina, Urmila Tamang, Om Bahadur Gurung, and Kumar Baraili.

In contrast, the CPN-UML has already designated Suhang Nembang, the son of the late party leader Subhash Nembang, as its candidate for the by-election. Additionally, the Nepali Congress is expected to nominate Dambar Bahadur Khadka as its candidate.

Meanwhile, the Rastriya Swatantra Party and CPN-Unified Socialist are still in the process of selecting their candidates for the upcoming election.

With preparations underway, political parties are gearing up for a competitive contest in both Illam and Bhajang, aiming to secure victory and strengthen their representation in the respective constituencies.
