Investigation of Rs 700 million tape scandal underway: CIAA Chief Rai



KATHMANDU: The Chief Commissioner of the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Prem Kumar Rai, has affirmed that the investigation into the Rs 700 million scandal remains ongoing.

Addressing a parliamentary committee meeting, Chief Commissioner Rai stated that the investigation into allegations of negotiating a Rs 700 million commission during the procurement of a security printing press is currently underway.

Rai clarified that the anti-corruption body will refrain from taking any actions against individuals until concrete evidence is unearthed.

In Falgun of 2076 BS, an audio tape surfaced allegedly implicating the then Minister for Communications and Information Technology and UML leader, Gokul Bastoka, in negotiations for a commission of Rs 700 million.
