KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has lauded the indelible contributions of veteran singer and composer Bhakta Raj Acharya to Nepal’s music industry, stating that his influence will continue to inspire generations to come.
During his visit to the Nepal Academy of Music and Drama to offer his respects to the late singer, Dahal underscored Acharya’s remarkable impact on the country’s musical landscape.
He expressed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.
The mortal remains of the esteemed singer have been placed at the Academy since 11:00 am today, providing an opportunity for individuals to bid their final farewells.
It has been announced that his last rites will take place at the Pashupati Aryaghat later today.
Kushma Mahara, the member-secretary of the Academy, noted the outpouring of tributes from people across various spheres of life, especially from within the music community, who have congregated at the Academy to honor the memory of the legendary singer, who passed away on Monday at the age of 82.
Acharya’s legacy extends beyond his lifetime, with his sons Satyaraj and Swaroop Raj also making significant contributions to the music industry.
Born in Dhankuta in 1999 BS, the late Acharya leaves behind a rich repertoire of over 400 songs, cementing his place as a stalwart figure in Nepali music history.
