Weather: Fog in Madhes, chances of snowfall in high altitudes

KATHMANDU: The Weather Forecasting Division has reported a partial impact of the westerly wind in Nepal at present.

Notably, there has been a partial shift in weather patterns, particularly in the hilly regions, and some areas in the Terai of Madhes and Lumbini provinces.

During the afternoon, the weather is anticipated to be partly cloudy to mostly clear in the hilly regions of Koshi, Gandaki and Bagmati provinces, while the plains in Madhes are likely to suffer thick fog  and cold waves. In the high hilly and Himalayan areas, there is a chance of light snowfall.

As night falls, the weather is expected to be partly cloudy to mostly clear in the remaining hilly areas.

Light snowfall remains a possibility in select high hill and mountainous region of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki regions.

With the likelihood of light snowfall in high hills and Himalayan areas, coupled with fog in most Terai locations, the Division has urged residents to take necessary precautions.

The impacts may affect daily life, health, transportation, and air traffic.

Therefore, the Division has advised to prepare accordingly for the cold weather and potential disruptions.
