Snowfall and rain expected across Nepal starting Friday evening



KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has issued a special weather bulletin, warning of snowfall and rain in various parts of Nepal beginning Friday evening.

This weather change is expected due to a western low-pressure system affecting the region.

The department has indicated that the system will bring partial to generally cloudy weather throughout the country.

Light to moderate snowfall is likely in high hilly and mountainous areas of Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces, with some snowfall expected in similar regions of Gandaki, Bagmati, and Koshi provinces from Friday afternoon to Saturday.

Additionally, light to moderate rainfall is predicted for Sudurpaschim and Karnali provinces, with scattered rainfall possible in Lumbini, Gandaki, Bagmati, Madhes, and Koshi provinces.

The department also noted that the weather system could lead to a drop in temperatures and an increase in cold conditions.

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has advised the public to take necessary precautions, as the adverse weather may impact daily life, health, mountaineering activities, air transport, and other routine activities.
