Two die in tipper accident in Myagdi

KATHMANDU: Two Indian workers lost their lives in a tipper accident at the under-construction Rahughat Hydropower Project in Bukla, Raghuganga Rural Municipality-4, Myagdi, on Thursday.

The victims, identified as Dashrath Yadav, 33, from Uttar Pradesh, and Satradhan Rajak, 40, from Madhya Pradesh, were working on the project when the tipper, with registration number BP 2-A 7568, plunged approximately 300 meters from the road leading to the tunnel of Audit No. 2 of the project.

Police Inspector Sagar Poudel of the District Police Office confirmed that both workers died on the spot.

They had been missing since around 1 am on Thursday night, and their bodies were discovered this morning during a search operation.

The bodies were retrieved with the help of police and workers from the hydropower project. An investigation into the cause of the accident is currently underway.

The Rahughat Hydropower Project, which is being developed by Raghuganga Hydro Limited (a subsidiary of the Nepal Electricity Authority), is a 40-megawatt project, with Indian company Jayaprakash Associates (JP) serving as the civil contractor.
