ANNFSU raises concern over Lipulekh agreement between India and China

KATHMANDU: The All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), a student organization aligned with the CPN-UML, has voiced serious concern over the recent agreement between India and China to designate Lipulekh, a disputed territory claimed by Nepal, as a pilgrimage center.

In a statement issued today, ANNFSU chair Aarti Lama criticized the agreement, describing it as “extremely shameful” that representatives of India and China reached such an understanding in Beijing without Nepal’s involvement or knowledge.

Lama also condemned the Nepali government’s silence on the matter despite the issue being widely publicized.

The ANNFSU expressed regret over what it termed border terror and neglect by neighboring countries and called on them to cease activities that undermine Nepal’s sovereignty.

The student union urged the Nepali government to take a firm stand and publicly clarify its position on what they view as encroachments on Nepali territory.

It said there is a need for decisive action to safeguard the nation’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
