Westerly winds impacting Nepal’s weather



KATHMANDU: The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology’s Weather Forecasting Division has stated that westerly winds and a low-pressure system are currently affecting the country.

According to the Division, the weather is partly to generally cloudy in the hilly areas, while the rest of the country is partly cloudy to mainly clear.

This afternoon, the weather will be partly cloudy to mainly clear in the mountainous regions of Koshi, Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpaschim provinces.

The hilly areas may also experience partly cloudy to mainly clear skies.

There is a possibility of light snowfall in the mountainous areas of Gandaki Province, which will be partly to generally cloudy with a chance of light snowfall in one or two places.

Tonight, light snowfall is expected in one or two places in the high hilly and mountainous regions of the country.

The Division has warned that, due to the influence of the western low-pressure system, cloudy weather and rainfall are likely to begin tomorrow.

The Division has advised the public to take necessary precautions, as light snowfall is possible in one or two locations in the high hilly and mountainous regions within the next 24 hours.

Additionally, mist and fog are expected in some parts of the Terai and Valley in the morning, which could temporarily and partially disrupt daily life, health, transport, and aviation.
