Foreign Minister urges to prioritize economic diplomacy

KATHMANDU: Foreign Minister Dr Arzu Rana Deuba has urged Nepal’s newly-appointed ambassadors and exporters to prioritize economic diplomacy and work on its expansion and promotion.

At an interaction at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday with the newly-appointed ambassadors and exporters, Minister Dr Rana said the Ministry has prioritized economic diplomacy on a policy level to achieve the country’s development and materialize the nation’s aspiration for prosperity.

Nepal’s all diplomatic missions abroad should promote economic diplomacy at present when the country’s economy has not progressed as expected due to different reasons.

She asked the ambassadors to attract investment in Nepal from the host countries and promote Nepal’s exports by unveiling our business potential.

Asking Nepal’s diplomatic missions abroad to ensure effective and result-oriented performance, Minister Dr Rana also pledged to ensure sufficient means and resources to the diplomatic missions noting that they are under-resourced.

She suggested that Nepal’s business persons and entrepreneurs should work for the best packaging of their goods making them competitive in the international market.

Likewise, the Foreign Minister urged the exporters to coordinate with Nepal’s diplomatic missions abroad and the Foreign Ministry if the business community faced any challenges for the export of Nepali goods.
